Cadinal History

Emerging from the legacy of Alabama Prep, a new chapter unfolds in the form of The Birmingham Cardinals. The reins of this organization are now held by Tim Sanders, who has breathed fresh life into it by renaming and rebranding it as The Birmingham Cardinals.

The shift to the Cardinals, including the name and color, is a tribute to Sanders' wife, Keri Beth, and her late son, Mical, who was a 16-year-old high school athlete when he passed away. It's widely believed that the appearance of a cardinal signifies a visit from a departed loved one.

The color red holds significant meaning in Christianity, symbolizing the blood of Christ and representing unwavering faith. In the Catholic Church, the cardinal is the highest priestly order, often associated with red. This renaming and rebranding is to honor the memory of Mical and pay respect to anyone we've lost while demonstrating unwavering faith in God.

With this mindset, Birmingham Prep is committed to nurturing the holistic development of each student-athlete.

Cardinal Vision

The Cardinal’s vision is to become a leading Christian football program that fosters the growth of post-graduate students. We strive to be recognized for our commitment to spiritual growth, academic excellence, and athletic performance in each of our student-athletes.

Our unwavering commitment to the holistic development of each student lays a robust foundation for them to soar to new heights in their future endeavors. As an institution, we challenge our students to reach their full potential, continually pushing them toward excellence.
